A graduate of University of Washington who also graduated magna cum laude at Harvard Law School in 1966, Bonderman traveled to Cairo, Egypt, to study Islamic Law. When he returned, Bonderman became a Fellow in Foreign and Comparative Law at Harvard, assistant professor at Tulane University Law School and a special assistant to the U.S. Attorney General. Then, he was a partner in the law firm of Arnold & Porter, where he specialized in securities, corporate, antitrust litigation and bankruptcy.
